2026 SSAC Men's Tennis Players To Watch

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Below are the Southern States Athletic Conference Men’s Tennis Players to Watch for the 2026 season. 
 
The 2026 SSAC Men’s Tennis Championship takes place April 16-18 in Mobile, Ala.

- Luka is a sophomore from France starting his 3rd semester at ABAC. He had some very strong showings last spring against some of the best teams in the country in NAIA and kept improving in the Fall, so I am excited to see what he can accomplish this season!

- Cruz is a very talented freshman from Argentina. His dedication, work ethic, and discipline on and off the court is promising and I am excited to see him compete in his first season in college!

- Great all-around player that plays at the net as well as the baseline.
- Engelbrecht is able to adjust his game to any playing style.
- He has great potential to be a great player in the SSAC as well as a scholar-athlete.

Kevin Kotzé

- Kevin has a huge serve and is an all-court player.
- He plays big and aggressive.
- He is patient and waits for opportunities to attack.
- Kotze’s experience is college play, and his tennis IQ makes him someone to watch for this upcoming spring season.

Alfredo Gallegos

- Alfredo returns for his sophomore campaign as a Loyola record holder. In his debut season with the Pack, Alfredo set the program record for most singles matches won in a season with 13. 
- He had an excellent summer competing in his home country of Ecuador, winning multiple titles. Alfredo is primed to make another big step forward this spring as he continues to develop in our program.

Graduate student, Arles, France
 
- Last playing collegiate tennis for the Pack in fall 2021, Sam is new to this team after returning to play out his remaining eligibility while completing an MBA. The Arles, France native had a strong fall, reacquainting himself with college tennis and instantly emerging as a leader. 
- This spring, we expect Sam to bring great energy and competitiveness each day as we navigate the SSAC schedule.

- Picked up four singles wins last season
- Six wins in doubles

- Was the I.S.C.C. Champion, Player of the Year, and Region 4 Player of the Year
- Andres will bring great doubles experience to the team along with his singles will to win each point.

- A four-year started and two-year captain for the team, he is the heartbeat of the men's squad that made the NAIA National Tournament in 2025.  
- His on court and off court leadership will be the key to the success of this new but experienced lineup of tennis players.

- A late addition to the team in summer of 2025, Ayden had a fantastic fall season with deep wins in every tournament including the ITA Regional.  
- He is projected to be at the top of the singles and doubles lineup.
 
 

William Carey

Islam Orynbassar
Jr., Position 1, Astana, Kazakhstan
 
- Islam is a two-time SSAC Conference Player of the year and 2 time All-American. He is currently ranked #3 in Doubles in the Nation with partner Vinh Nguyen. 
- Besides making the Semifinals at the ITA NAIA National Championships in Doubles this Fall, he won the Singles A Draw at the Mississippi College Invitational and won the River Hills Doubles Tournament with former Teammate Matt Shearer beating two Ole Miss Teams and in the Final a former #2 Junior player in the World.

Jr., Position 2, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, DePaul University
 
- Vinh Nguyen is a Transfer from DePaul University. 
- He is currently ranked #3 in the Nation in Doubles. He made the Semifinals in doubles at the ITA NAIA National Championships this Fall.
