DECATUR, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the 2026 SSAC softball year-end award winners Wednesday evening, highlighted by a trio of student-athletes tying for Player of the Year honors.
Coach of the Year: Alison Sellers-Cook, Mobile
Co-Player of the Year: Jayden Sawyer, William Carey
Co-Player of the Year: Chloe Davidson, Faulkner
Co-Player of the Year: Daryelin Rivas, Mobile
Pitcher of the Year: Jayden Sawyer, William Carey
Newcomer of the Year: Jayden Sawyer, William Carey
Freshman of the Year: Alaina Grace King, UT Southern
Sportsmanship Award: Abraham Baldwin
William Carey’s Jayden Sawyer has done it all en route to being named Co-Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. She has gone 20-2 with an 0.86 ERA and 217 strikeouts in the circle and is batting .349 and slugging .624 with 36 RBIs at the dish.
For the Rams, Rivas leads with a .438 batting average, 64 hits and 38 runs scored, while swiping 19 bags and posting a .465 OBP. Faulkner’s Davidson is a repeat Player of the Year honoree after hitting .457 and posting a .519 OBP with 63 hits and 34 runs scored. UT Southern’s King took home top freshman billing after hitting .406 with 15 XBH and 38 RBIs.
