MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The SSAC announced the 2026 SSAC Softball Players of the Week. Carter Gore of Abraham Baldwin was named SSAC Softball Player of the Week and Katelynn Kempton of Mobile was named SSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. The awards are for the week of March 2-8.
Player: Carter Gore (Abraham Baldwin – SR – Madison, Fla.)
- This is her first-career weekly honor
- Gore hit .429 and slugged .786, while totaling six hits, six RBIs and five doubles across four games
- She had a hit and RBI in every game and capped the week by going a combined 4-for-7 with four doubles and three RBIs in victories against Williams Baptist and Central Baptist
Pitcher: Katelynn Kempton (Mobile – SO – P – Ponchatoula, La.)
- This is her first-career weekly honor
- Kempton appeared in three games against Top 25 opponents, picking up a win and a save with 9.1 innings of shutout ball. She fanned seven and walked only one
- She worked 2.2 innings of one-hit ball to get the win against No. 13 Cumberlands and 2.1 innings of one-hit relief for the save v. No. Our Lady of the Lake
