WCU Ends Season In NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Round of 16

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) skims the game-winning goal under the crossbar to triumph over William Carey (Miss.), 2-1 in double overtime. Embry-Riddle maintains its unbeaten streak, extending its season record to 19-0-3, while WCU closes the book on the 2025 season at 20-2-0.

The match began with both the Eagles and Crusaders finding their rhythm and figuring out the best plan of attack. William Carey found their groove quickly, as forward Lauren Entremont found the back of the net in the 32nd minute, courtesy of an assist from Alessia Navarro, putting William Carey ahead 1-0. However, ERAU's resilience quickly came back, even when Jamie Brandon, a standout performer for the Eagles, equalized just three minutes later with her 19th goal of the season, assisted by Samantha Wright.

The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 through regulation time and continued into overtime, where both teams had strong defense and offensive stands. The decisive moment arrived in the second overtime period, as Brandon once again found space in the Crusaders' defense to take the game-winning shot. In the 104th minute, she launched a remarkable unassisted shot from 25 yards out on the left side, sneaking the shot just below the crossbar, clinching the victory for Embry-Riddle.

Statistically, Embry-Riddle dominated the field with 28 shots, 16 of which were on target, compared to William Carey's eight shots, with only two on target. William Carey goalkeeper Nerea Pallas Padilla delivered a standout performance with 13 saves, while Embry-Riddle's Aubrianne Dupre made a single save, conceding one goal.

ERAU will extend its stay on the Gulf Coast till at least Thursday, when they face the Lady Bears of Truett McConnell (Ga.) at 4 p.m. CT.
