MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Only two teams remain at the 2025 SSAC Volleyball Championship, presented by Dreamland BBQ, as No. 1 Mobile and No. 2 Loyola advanced to the finals.
The two will battle for the title Saturday at 2 p.m. CST at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl. Tickets are being sold online only and the match will be streamed for free on the Urban Edge Network.
The first semifinal match saw Mobile sweep Point 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-13). The Rams out-hit the Skyhawks .358 to .083. Emily Osborne had seven kills and six blocks for the Rams, while Corrina Porch-Maxey finished with 11 kills.
Loyola bounced back to take down Blue Mountain Christian 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 20-25, 25-12, 15-8) in the other semifinal match. Loyola hit .254 and held a 14-4 edge in blocks. Isis Harink had nine kills and five blocks, while Alexa Palmer finished with 12 kills and four blocks.
Friday’s Pool Play Results
Blue Mountain Christian def. UT Southern 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 26-24, 25-21)
- The Toppers held the Firehawks to a .184 hitting percentage and served up 11 aces
- Salice Speed led with 16 kills, while Marissa Gerleman had 12 kills and three blocks
Point def. William Carey 3-1 (14-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-14)
- The Skyhawks out-hit WCU .330 to .189 as five different players had eight or nine kills
- Tianna Kynard had nine kills and seven blocks, while Paige Lowe had 35 assists, nine kills and 11 digs
Mobile def. Faulkner 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-17, 25-11)
- Peyton Frazer paced Mobile with 12 kills, while Jennifer Cope had seven kills and six blocks
- Faulkner got 11 kills from Allyse Rudolph and 10 kills and four blocks from Riley Deem
Loyola def. Life 3-0 (27-25, 25-19, 25-21)
- Clarissa Dupree had 10 kills for Loyola, while Katy Hollingsworth finished with four blocks
- Life got 10 kills from Paola Vega and 15 assists from Gabriela Rivera
