MONTGOMERY, Ala. – During Black History Month, the Southern States Athletic Conference will recognize significant contributions by African Americans at each of its member institutions.
William Kindle | Talladega College
William Kindle was Talladega’s first physical education professor. He arrived at Talladega College in 1923 having served in World War I and graduated from Springfield College, the birthplace of basketball and volleyball. He introduced those sports to campus and soon introduced gymnastics, handball, and swimming.
