MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the addition of women’s flag football as a championship sport beginning in 2026-27. Seven SSAC members sponsor the sport, with two additional schools joining as affiliate members.
Competing Teams: Andrew, Wesleyan, Brewton-Parker Christian, Life, Point, Thomas, Tennessee Southern, Milligan, Reinhardt
Women’s flag football was approved as an invitational sport for the 2025-26 season by the NAIA’s National Administrative Council. The 2025-26 season will feature 35 programs competing across the NAIA and the postseason will shift to a qualification-based invitational tournament.
League coaches and athletic directors will finalize a schedule and policies. The 2027 SSAC Championship is slated to be held April 22-24 in Montgomery, Ala.
