MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the 2026-27 championship schedule. Beginning with men’s and women’s cross country on Nov. 6, 23 tournament champions will be crowned throughout the year.
Many championships will be streamed live for free via the Urban Edge Network and all tickets will be sold online only at https://ssacsports.com/tickets.
New Championships
The SSAC will host men’s wrestling, beach volleyball and women’s flag football championships for the first time in 2026-27.
Flag football and men’s wrestling will be held in Montgomery, with flag football taking place at the Cramton Bowl and wrestling being held at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl. Beach volleyball will be held in Foley, Ala.
Long-Standing Partnerships
Many of the 2026-27 championships will take place in familiar locations, including the continuation of long-standing partnerships with Montgomery and Decatur, Ala. The partnership with Montgomery started back in 2012-13, while Decatur has hosted the softball tournament since 2017. Golf has been held at RTJ at Cambrian Ridge since 2018.
Changes
A day has been added to the basketball and softball championships, while volleyball will move to a 12-team pool play to bracket format. The outdoor track & field championships will be hosted by Life University at their track facility for the first time.
Familiar Venues
The cross country championships return to Choctaw Trails in Jackson, Miss., for the first time since 2017, indoor track & field returns to the Birmingham CrossPlex for the first time since 2023 and swimming returns to Columbus, Ga., for the first time since 2024.
