Day One Of 2026 SSAC Baseball Championship Features Pair Of Upsets

JACKSON, Tenn. – Pool play action at the 2026 SSAC Baseball Championship got underway Wednesday with four games. The day featured upset wins by No. 5 Faulkner and No. 6 Loyola, along with a pair of run-rule victories.
 
All games are being streamed for FREE on the Urban Edge Network and tickets are being sold online only. Note the schedule for Thursday and Friday has been flipped to matchup the 1-0 and 0-1 teams Thursday.

#5 Faulkner def. #4 Mobile 8-4
  • Faulkner got homers and two RBIs from Jordan Carter and Edrien Martinez
  • Samir Rojas logged eight innings, allowing only one earned run to pick up the victory
 
#1 Abraham Baldwin def. #8 Brewton-Parker Christian 15-4 (7)
  • ABAC pounded out 17 hits in the game, with five different players recording multi-hit days
  • Zack Bowman went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, Kam Taylor went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and Reigh Jordan went the distance on the mound to get the win and save the bullpen
 
#2 William Carey def. #7 UT Southern 15-1 (7)
  • The Crusaders produced 15 runs on 14 hits and 12 walks with nine different players recording a hit
  • Taylor Walters went 3-for-5 with five RBIs, DeeJay Booth went 3-for-4 at the top of the order and Matthew Davis got the win on the mound with six innings of one-run ball, striking out six
 
#6 Loyola def. #3 Thomas 5-4
  • Loyola went ahead for good with a two-run sixth inning that saw a solo homer from Nathan McDonald and a RBI hit from Drew Lee
  • Shortstop Ben Harris saved the night for the Wolf Pack with a diving stop to end the ninth inning with the tying run on third base. Michael Hotard worked six innings, allowing only two earned runs, while Frank Fernandez tossed two innings of shutout relief
