MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The SSAC announced the 2026 SSAC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Players of the Week. Phil Louis Steinbichler of William Carey was named SSAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week and Victoria Vieten of William Carey was named SSAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. The awards are for the week of April 6-12.
Phil Louis Steinbichler (William Carey – JR – Bad Homburg V.D.H., Germany)
- This is his first-career weekly honor
- Steinbichler went 5-0 individually in a big week for the Crusaders that saw wins against No. 9 Xavier and No. 24 Loyola
- The junior won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles against Xavier and 6-4, 7-5 against Loyola
Victoria Vieten (William Carey – SR – Dusseldorf, Germany)
- This is her eighth-career weekly honor
- Vieten went 9-1 individually, including 5-0 at No. 1 singles as the Crusaders picked up wins over No. 10 Loyola, No. 6 Xavier, No. 8 LSU Alexandria and RV LSU Shreveport
- She beat ITA No. 9 Maja Brnic (XULA) 6-3, 6-4 and No. 12 Nahia Echaide (LSUA) 6-1, 7-5
