MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Softball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. William Carey (Miss.) swept the honors, with Albanie Fussell being named SSAC Softball Player of the Week and Ryanne Hornsby being named SSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Feb. 3-9.
Albanie Fussell (William Carey – JR – C – Franklinton, La.)
- This is her first-career weekly honor
- Fussell hit .467 and slugged .733 with 11 RBIs and four doubles as the Crusadres went 5-0
- She hit safely in every game, with no strikeouts and drove in the winning run in a win over Texas Wesleyan
Ryanne Hornsby (William Carey – JR – P – Hattiesburg, Miss.)
- This is her sixth-career weekly honor
- Hornsby went 3-0 on the week, logging 21 innings across three complete games and posting a 1.00 ERA
- She tossed a complete-game shutout v. Louisiana Christian and held Texas A&M Texarkana to one earned run with six strikeouts in a 4-3 victory
