MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Madisyn Riggins of Middle Georgia was named SSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week and Ivey Hill of Faulkner (Ala.) was named SSAC Softball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The awards are based on performance for the week of April 10-16.
Madisyn Riggins (Middle Georgia – SO – INF/P – Kingsland, Ga.)
- This is her first-career honor
- Riggins tossed a no-hitter v. Faulkner, striking out a pair and allowing no walks or hits in five innings of shutout ball. Only errors prevented a perfect game
- She tossed a seven-inning, complete-game shutout in a 2-0 win over Faulkner earlier in the week
Ivey Hill (Faulkner – SO – P/OF – Warrior, Ala.)
- This is her first-career honor
- Hill logged 16 at-bats and 23.1 innings in the circle. She hit .375 and slugged .813 with two homers and six RBIs, and collected a 2-1 record with 13 K’s in the circle
- Hill hit a go-ahead homer in the seventh inning v. No. 11 Middle Georgia, a game-tying homer v. Brewton-Parker and a go-ahead RBI-single v. the Barons
