MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Destanee Wright of Middle Georgia State was named SSAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Jalen Galloway of Loyola (La.) was named SSAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Nov. 14-20.
Destanee Wright (Middle Georgia – JR – G – Eastman, Ga.)
- This is her first-career honor
- In a 1-1 conference week, Wright averaged 27.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.5 assists while shooting 64% overall and 76% from the FT line
- In a 78-73 win over Blue Mountain, Wright posted 39 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and three steals, while shooting 10-of-11 overall and 17-of-20 from the FT stripe
Jalen Galloway (Loyola – SR – F – Meridian, Idaho)
- This is his third honor in four weeks this season
- In a 2-0 conference week, Galloway averaged 26.5 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 55% from the floor and 73% from the FT line
- He posted 27 points and 10 boards v. Dalton State and 26 points and 14 rebounds v. Life
