MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the 2026 SSAC Competitive Cheer Scholar-Athlete Team and Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Brewton-Parker Christian’s Harley Slade was named 2026 SSAC Competitive Cheer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The senior nursing major posted a 4.0 GPA. On the mat, she earned All-Conference honors and helped the Barons to their highest score in program history at the SSAC Championship, finishing with 86.42.

- William Carey’s Mitchell has a 3.97 GPA and Mobile’s Myers posted a 3.87 mark
- XULA’s Rhodes earned Third-Team NAIA All-America honors while helping Xavier to the NAIA National Championship and UT Southern’s Busey was named SSAC Athlete of the Year
- To be eligible, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in both academic and athletic standing, must be starters or important reserves, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have competed in 50% of competitions
- Graduate students and transfers must have completed one semester at the school
