MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Day one of the 2026 SSAC Men’s Basketball Championship saw a pair of teams from the west division advance, with Mobile and UT Southern picking up victories. 
 
The tournament runs through Saturday, with a full slate of games set to take place Thursday. All games can be viewed live and on demand for free via the Urban Edge Network. Fans coming to watch in person can purchase tickets at https://ssacsports.com/tickets.
 
West #4 Mobile def. East #5 Thomas 73-69 (OT)

• The Rams got 23 points from Aahmod Scarbrough and 17 points and seven rebounds from Mason Sword, who knocked down 9-of-11 FT’s
• Thomas got 19 points and seven rebounds from Shane Payne and 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the charity stripe from Jonathan Goldson

 
West #5 UT Southern def. East #4 Point 81-76

• The Firehawks got 15 points and eight rebounds from Eric Robinson, while, De’Marreon Baldwin added 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting
• Kenton Steele led the Skyhawks with 21 points and eight boards
• The game was fairly even across the board, with UTS holding a slim edge from 3-point range, knocking down 5-of-18 compared to 3-of-18 for Point
