2025-26 SSAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week - No. 16

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The SSAC announced the 2025-26 SSAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week. Shakiria Chaney of Abraham Baldwin was named SSAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Silkiari Vazquez-Troche of UT Southern was named SSAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. The awards are for the week of Feb. 9-15.
 
Offensive: Shakiria Chaney (ABAC – SR – F – Tifton, Ga.)
  • This is her third-career weekly honor
  • Chaney averaged 32.3 points and 12.0 rebounds across three games, while shooting 52% overall and 76% from the charity stripe
  • She had double-doubles in all three games and scored 30+ points in every game, including highs of 33 points and 15 boards in a conference win over Point
 
Defensive: Silkiari Vazquez-Troche (UT Southern – SR – G – San Juan, P.R.)
  • This is her fourth weekly honor this season and third defensive award
  • Vazquez-Troche came up one rebound short of a triple-double in a 77-74 win over Blue Mountain Christian
  • She logged 20 points, nine boards (six defensive), 10 assists, one steal and four blocks in the conference victory
