WCU Tops 2025 SSAC Women's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Southern States Athletic Conference women’s soccer coaches picked William Carey to claim the regular season title in the 2025 SSAC Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Preseason Poll.

UT Southern claimed last year’s regular season crown, while the Crusaders have won nine titles, including seven-straight prior to 2024.

Teams start playing regular season matches Thursday, Aug. 21, with the regular season set to conclude on Oct. 26. The top eight teams in the final conference standings will advance to the 2025 SSAC Women’s Championship. The first round will take place at campus sites, with higher seeds hosting Oct. 30 – Nov. 1. The four winners will advance to Montgomery, Ala., for the semifinals and finals Nov. 6 and 8.

Danny Owens, William Carey Head Coach: “We are honored to be voted number one in the preseason, for what we have done in the past and last year. However, the girls understand it’s how they finish, not how they start and all we can do is focus on this year’s team and this year’s goals. We hope to be number one at the end of this season, but we understand how competitive this conference will be.”
