MONTGOMERY, Ala. – No. 8 seed Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) defeated No. 3 seed Mobile (Ala.) 62-53 to win the 2025 SSAC Women’s Basketball Championship, presented by Newk’s Eatery.
History
The Toppers become the lowest seed to win any SSAC Tournament Championship, besting No. 7 seed Loyola winning last season’s men’s basketball tourney. The title is the first for the BMCU women.
Next Step
Blue Mountain earns the league’s second automatic bid to the 2025 NAIA Women’s Basketball National Championship First & Second Round, with William Carey receiving the other bid from winning the Regular Season Championship. The other SSAC teams will await word on possible at-large selections to the field of 64.

Fourth Quarter
The Toppers never led in the first three quarters of play, but started the final period on a 7-1 spurt to claim their first lead at 45-44 with 8:09 to go on a Kathryn Echols 3-pointer. The teams traded buckets for the next two minutes and then the Toppers, trailing 48-47, used a 9-0 lead to claim an eight-point edge and never looked back.
