MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Baseball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Rigoberto Hernandez of William Carey (Miss.) was named SSAC Baseball Player of the Week and Trypp Lumpkin of Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) was named SSAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of March 10-16.
Rigoberto Hernandez (William Carey – SR – INF – Panama City, Panama)
- This is his first-career weekly honor
- Hernandez hit .625 and slugged 1.438, while totaling four homers, 10 hits, 12 runs and 13 RBIs across three games
- He had multiple hits and a homerun in every game, capping the series by going 5-for-7 with six runs and seven RBIs in the finale
Trypp Lumpkin (ABAC – JR – P – Ellaville, Ga.)
- This is his second-career weekly honor
- Lumpkin picked up the win over 13th-ranked Faulkner, allowing only one earned run on two hits in five innings
- He struck out seven in the ball game
