MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Baseball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Sam Bowman of Mobile (Ala.) was named SSAC Baseball Player of the Week and Trypp Lumpkin of Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) was named SSAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of March 3-9.
Sam Bowman (Mobile – SR – SS – Daphne, Ala.)
- This is his first-career weekly honor
- In a 5-0 week for the Rams, Bowman hit .643, posted a .727 OBP and slugged 1.357, while totaling nine hits, six XBH, six runs scored, five walks and 13 RBIs
- He reached base safely multiple times and scored in every game. In a series sweep of Brewton-Parker, he went 7-for-11 with three doubles, one homer and nine RBIs
Trypp Lumpkin (ABAC – JR – P – Ellaville, Ga.)
- This is his first-career weekly honor
- Lumpkin helped ABAC to a 4-3 win at Loyola, striking out 10 across six innings
- He allowed only one earned run on three hits in the outing
