MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Dre Burroughs of Brewton-Parker (Ga.) was named SSAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Omarion Smith of Dalton State (Ga.) was named SSAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Feb. 17-23.
Dre Burroughs (Brewton-Parker – SR – G)
- This is his first weekly honor this season
- In a pair of conference games, Burroughs averaged 31.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 49% overall, 44% from 3-point range and 75% from the FT line
- He tallied 42 points on 17-of-28 shooting against ABAC
Omarion Smith (Dalton State – JR – F – Atlanta, Ga.)
- This is his fifth weekly honor this season
- In a 2-0 conference week to capture the SSAC Regular Season Championship, Smith averaged 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.5 steals per game
- Against Point he had seven defensive boards and a pair of blocks, then he produced six boards, two steals and two blocks v. Life
