MONTGOMERY, Ala. – With one weekend to go in SSAC men’s basketball regular season action, plenty is still to be determined heading into the SSAC Men’s Basketball Championship, presented by Newk’s Eatery, Feb. 26 – March 1.
SSAC Championship
- Championship takes place Feb. 26 – March 1 with five teams from each division qualifying
- The 4th and 5th seed from each side play Wednesday, while the other teams get byes
Tiebreakers
- The detailed tiebreakers can be found in the policies on the SSAC website
- The basic order is 1) Head-to-head among tied teams, 2) Head-to-head against common opponents starting at the top of the division standings, 3) Modified Krause System (don’t ask), 4) Coin flip by SSAC Commissioner
Regular Season Champion
- The team that loses the fewest number of conference games regardless of division claims the title and the first bid to the NAIA National Championship First & Second Round
- Life (14-3) and Dalton State (13-3) close the regular season against each other. Dalton State won the first meeting this season. Dalton State is 1-1 v. Middle Georgia, while the Running Eagles are 2-0
Some Possible Ties
- Battling for the top seed in the West are Mobile (11-4), WCU (10-5) and Faulkner (10-5). Mobile has games remaining with WCU and Faulkner
- With Brewton-Parker and Point battling for the fifth seed in the East, the Barons are 2-0 against Point this season
