MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Baseball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Zion Taylor of Mobile (Ala.) was named SSAC Baseball Player of the Week and Brady Bowen of Loyola (La.) was named SSAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Feb. 10-16.
Zion Taylor (Mobile – JR – OF – Atlanta, Ga.)
- This is his first-career weekly honor
- In a 2-1 week, Taylor hit .615, posted a .667 OBP and slugged 1.231, while totaling four extra base hits, nine RBIs and six runs scored
- In game one, he went 4-for-5 with two doubles and five RBIs, and finished the series by going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a homer in the finale
Brady Bowen (Loyola – JR – P – Houma, La.)
- This is his second-career weekly honor
- Bowen tossed five innings of one-hit, shutout ball in a win over UT Southern
- He struck out eight and allowed only one walk
