MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Milique Smith of Middle Georgia State was named SSAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Jeffrey Selden of Faulkner (Ala.) was named SSAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Dec. 30 – Jan. 5.
Milique Smith (Middle Georgia – JR – F – Thomaston, Ga.)
- This is his first-career weekly honor
- In a 97-81 win over Brewton-Parker, Smith posted a double-double of 29 points and 20 rebounds
- He added four steals and three assists while shooting 62% from the field
Jeffrey Selden (Faulkner – JR – G – Austin, Texas)
- This is his second-career honor
- Selden averaged 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks in a 2-0 week, including a win over Mobile
- He had three steals and four blocks in a win over Southeastern and then helped limit the Rams’ leading scorer to 11 points
