MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Deniya Thornton of Loyola (La.) was named SSAC Women’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Jan. 20-26.
Deniya Thornton (Loyola – SO – G – New Roads, La.)
- These are her third and fourth career weekly honors
- Thornton posted Loyola’s first triple-double since 2018
- She tallied 15 points, 12 rebounds, 10 steals and a pair of assists
- The sophomore shot 71% from the field and produced the triple-double in only 26 minutes of action
- She had five offensive boards and seven defensive boards
