MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Jonathan Garcia of Faulkner (Ala.) was named SSAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Omarion Smith of Dalton State (Ga.) was named SSAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Jan. 20-26.
Jonathan Garcia (Faulkner – SR – G – Clint, Texas)
- This is his first-career weekly honor
- In a win over ABAC, Garcia tallied a career-high 31 points
- He knocked down 71% from 3-point range, 67% overall and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the FT line
Omarion Smith (Dalton State – JR – F – Atlanta, Ga.)
- This is his third-career honor and second-straight
- In a win over Blue Mountain Christian, Smith produced 12 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks
- Eleven of his rebounds were defensive boards and he added a steal
