MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Ruthie Smith of Faulkner (Ala.) was named SSAC Women’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Jan. 13-19.
Ruthie Smith (Faulkner – SO – F – Rogersville, Ala.)
- These are her first career weekly honors
- Leading Faulkner to its first two SSAC wins of the year, Smith averaged 28.5 points, 18.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game, while shooting 50% from the field and 82% from the FT line
- She posted 29 points, 19 rebounds and two blocks, while shooting 67% in a win at Middle Georgia
- In Faulkner’s first-ever win at Loyola, the sophomore finished with 28 points, 18 rebounds, three steals and two blocks
