MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Jaiden Duarte of Middle Georgia State was named SSAC Baseball Player of the Week and Julio Lopez of Point (Ga.) was named SSAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
The awards are based on performance for the week of April 22-28.
Jaiden Duarte (Middle Georgia – JR – OF – Tampa, Fla.)
- This is his first-career honor
- Duarte hit .700 and slugged 1.800, while totaling seven runs and nine RBIs in a 2-1 series win at Brewton-Parker
- The series was keyed by Duarte clubbing three homers and driving in eight runs in game two
Julio Lopez (Point – SR – P)
- This is his first honor this season
- Lopez tossed a complete-game shutout against SSAC Champion Faulkner
- He allowed only four hits and fanned seven in a six-inning effort
