MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Point (Ga.) swept the SSAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors, with Shakira Wilson being named SSAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Zaria Johnson being named SSAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Oct. 28 – Nov. 3.
Shakira Wilson (Point – SR – G)
- This is her first-career weekly honor
- Wilson averaged 21 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 42% from 3-point range and 77% from the free throw line
- She posted a high of 28 points and nine boards v. Reinhardt, knocking down 5-of-11 triples in the contest
Zaria Johnson (Point – JR – C)
- This is her first-career weekly honor
- Johnson averaged 16.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game
- She produced 21 points, 16 boards and seven blocks in a win over Brenau and added a double-double of 12 points and 13 boards v. Reinhardt
