MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Gabriel Rivera of Faulkner (Ala.) was named SSAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Makeem Roberts of William Carey (Miss.) was named SSAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Oct. 28 - Nov. 3.
Gabriel Rivera (Faulkner – JR – F – Orlando, Fla.)
- This is his first-career weekly honor
- Rivera averaged 23 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 55% overall and 63% from long range
- He produced double-doubles in both games with 25 points and 11 boards v. Paine and 21 points and 10 rebounds v. Cumberland
Makeem Roberts (William Carey – JR – G – Meridian, Miss.)
- This is his first-career weekly honor
- Roberts averaged 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per contest
- He had 15 points, 10 boards and three steals v. Paine
