MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. William Carey (Miss.) swept the awards, with Kolten Blakeney being named SSAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Shaneal Corpuz being named SSAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Nov. 18-24.
Kolten Blakeney (William Carey – SR – F – Taylorsville, Miss.)
- This is her second-career weekly honor
- In a 3-0 week, Blakeney averaged 22 points and 13 rebounds per game, while shooting 62% overall and 71% from the free throw line
- She posted double-doubles and averaged 7.7 offensive boards a game. The senior had a high of 26 points v. Tougaloo and 17 rebounds, including 12 offensive, v. Thomas
Shaneal Corpuz (William Carey – SO – G – Biloxi, Miss.)
- This is her fourth-career weekly honor
- Corpuz averaged 14 points, 12.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game in a 3-0 week
- She averaged 9.3 defensive boards and had double-doubles in all three games, including 20 points and 13 boards v. Mobile
