MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced the SSAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week, presented by WinWon. Shakiria Chaney of Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) was named SSAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week and Chasity Degale of Brewton-Parker (Ga.) was named SSAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
The awards are based on performance for the week of Nov. 11-17.
Shakiria Chaney (Abraham Baldwin – SO – F – Tifton, Ga.)
- This is her first-career weekly honor
- Across three games, Chaney averaged 26.7 points and 12.3 rebounds, while shooting 58% from the floor
- She posted a double-double of 26 points and 20 rebounds v. Point and scored 30 points in a win over Toccoa Falls
Chasity Degale (Brewton-Parker – FR – F – Valdosta, Ga.)
- This is her first-career weekly honor
- Degale helped the Barons to a 86-52 win over Point with 18 points and 13 rebounds, 11 of which were defensive boards
- She also added two blocks and a steal
