MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Miagh Downey of Middle Georgia State was named SSAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Ebba Elweroth of Mobile (Ala.) was named SSAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
 
The awards are based on performance for the week of August 15-21. 
 
Miagh Downey (Middle Georgia – SR – F – Colchester, England)

• Downey earns her sixth SSAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor
• She totaled eight points on three goals and two assists on the weekend as the Knights started the season with a pair of wins
• The senior posted one goal and one assist in a 2-0 win over Ave Maria and then added two goals and one assist in a 4-3 win over Thomas

 
Ebba Elweroth (Mobile – SO – GK – Helsingborg, Sweden)

• Elweroth made eight saves against NCAA-II Spring Hill in her first career start for the Rams
• She logged all 90 minutes, allowing only one goal
