MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The SSAC released the 2022 baseball award winners Tuesday, highlighted by Faulkner’s Shawn Ross being named Player of the Year and Patrick McCarthy being named Mike Jacobs Coach of the Year.
 
Player of the Year: Shawn Ross, Faulkner (Ala.)
Mike Jacobs Coach of the Year: Patrick McCarthy, Faulkner (Ala.)
Pitcher of the Year: July Sosa, Faulkner (Ala.)
Newcomer of the Year: AJ Stinson, William Carey (Miss.)
Freshman of the Year: Miguel Oropeza, Talladega (Ala.)

• Ross hit .329 with a .466 OBP, while totaling 14 homers, 49 runs and 55 RBIs
• Sosa is 9-1 on the season with a 1.57 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 69 innings of work
