MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Rachel Jarriel of Brewton-Parker (Ga.) was named SSAC Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Bryana Bazile of Loyola (La.) was named SSAC Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
The awards are based on performance for the week of April 25 – May 1.
Rachel Jarriel (Brewton-Parker – SR – Collins, Ga.)
- Jarriel hit the NAIA ‘A’ qualifying mark in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 11:00.24 at the GSU Spring Classic
- Her previous best was 12:18.98 and she bested the qualifying mark by nearly 18 seconds
Bryana Bazile (Loyola – SO – Houston, Texas)
- Bazile won the discus with a mark of 40.11m at the Mike McMillan Twilight and finished 2nd in the shot put (12.63m)
- She previously hit the NAIA ‘B’ qualifying mark in the discus this season
