Four SSAC Teams Earn NAIA Baseball Opening Round Bids

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Four Southern States Athletic Conference teams received bids to the 2022 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.
 
Faulkner, William Carey, Loyola and Middle Georgia State all earned bids to compete in the Opening Round May 16-19, with the OR winners advancing to the NAIA World Series May 27 – June 3 in Lewiston, Idaho.
 
Montgomery Bracket
  • Teams: #1 Ottawa (Kan.), #2 Faulkner (Ala.), #3 Keiser (Fla.), #4 Reinhardt (Ga.)
  • Faulkner earned an at-large bid and will host the bracket. The Eagles are in the OR for the 12th time and are 28-8 all-time in the tournament with eight OR titles
 
Lawrenceville Bracket
  • Teams: #1 Hope International (Calif.), #2 Georgia Gwinnett, #3 William Carey (Miss.), #4 Point Park (Pa.)
  • The Crusaders earned an automatic bid after winning the SSAC Tournament. WCU is in the OR for the eighth time and is 15-11 all-time with one OR title
 
Miami Gardens Bracket
  • Teams: #1 St. Thomas (Fla.), #2 McPherson (Kan.), #3 Webber International (Fla.), #4 Middle Georgia State
  • The Knights earned an at-large bid and are in the OR for the sixth time, with a 6-8 all-time mark
 
Shreveport Bracket
  • Teams: #1 LSU Shreveport, #2 Science & Arts (Okla.), #3 Lyon (Ark.), #4 Loyola (La.), #5 Fisher (Mass.)
  • Loyola earned an at-large bid and is in the OR for the second-straight season
