2021-22 SSAC Men's Basketball Award Winners Announced

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 2021-22 SSAC men’s basketball award winners were released Tuesday evening, highlighted by Loyola’s Stacy Hollowell being named Coach of the Year and Zach Wrightsil being named Player of the Year.
 
Coach of the Year: Stacy Hollowell, Loyola (La.)
Player of the Year: Zach Wrightsil, Loyola (La.)
Defensive Player of the Year: Myles Burns, Loyola (La.)
Newcomer of the Year: Brandon Davis, Loyola (La.)
Freshman of the Year: Damariee Jones, Mobile (Ala.)
6th Man of the Year: Edwin Louis, Talladega (Ala.)
Sportsmanship Award: Brewton-Parker (Ga.)
 
Noteworthy
  • With Hollowell at the helm, the Wolf Pack are ranked No. 2 in the NAIA and claimed the SSAC Regular Season Championship
  • Wrightsil has won five-straight SSAC Player of the Week honors and has broken the Wolf Pack career records for points, rebounds and assists. Burns wins Defensive Player of the Year honors for the fourth-straight year after leading the NAIA with 4.0 steals per game
  • In his first year with Loyola, Davis averages 15.9 points, shooting 43% from distance. Jones averages 8.7 points and 6.5 boards for the Rams, while logging 26 minutes of action per game, while Louis is scoring 8.8 points per game and shooting 49% from 3-point range off the bench for the Tornadoes
